Automotive Zone - The development of the automotive world demanding manufacturers of cars and trucks to continue to innovate. Car and truck manufacturers from Germany, Mercedes-Benz, saw it as an opportunity as well as the main actors of the creation of automatic steering technology for trucks on the freeway (motorway).
Freeway between Denkendof and Aiport Stutgart, Germany to witness the successful history of Mercedes-Benz in developing automatic steering system, a kind of auto pilot on a plane that is embedded in his truck.
In a test conducted on Friday (2/10), the Prime Minister of Baden-Wurttemberg Winffried Kretscmann and board member of Daimler AG, Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard is responsible for this pilot project to participate in it.
"Today is a day that is quite important because it is a big step to finalize the automatic steering technology for the sustainability of transportation, such as trucks in the future," said Dr Bernhard in a release.
"However, the system is still not fully prepared to replace the human role in driving a truck on the highway. Just aim to help truck drivers to improve driving safety," he added.
This steering system technology was not fully automated because when the truck heading out on the highway, truck drivers are required to control the steering manually, especially when there are roadworks. However, when the truck back to the highway, the truck driver can use this automatic steering technology back.
So far, only Mercedes-Benz officially allowed to develop and test against this automatic steering technology. They plan to immerse the same technology for their cars.
Driving long distances on the motorway it can be very boring, but it would be a different story if the vehicle that we use takes us to the destination automatically.
