Product Review: Freed of London
Today's product review is a little different in that it's the first time I'm reviewing something that's not a scarf or modest clothing. Nevertheless, it's a fashion staple and something that I'm always on the hunt for; comfortable but smart flat shoes. And being on your feet all day means you get through lots!So I was very interested when Freed of London got in touch. As leading of producers of professional dance shoes, they've recently launched a range of ballet flats after much customer demand. I also happened to be in the Leicester Square area one day and decided to do a bit of detective work and visit the Freed store too. The store is small but welcoming, and in the front window display is their new range of flats. The staff were very friendly and helpful!
I chose the Patent PU Diana Ballet Flat to review. This shoe has a black patent, crocodile skin finish with a small bow at the front. It also has a small 1.5cm heel, rather than being completely flat on the ground, which I find to be quite important in providing support to the feet. It has a black fabric trim around the edges. Another interesting feature I was told about in store is that the bow can be undone and tightened like a drawstring to give you a better fit!
In terms of fit, I found the shoes in general to be a little tight at the front, but looser in the heel, and this true for both the sizes 4.5 and 5 that I tried. I don't think they would be suitable for people with wider feet. The flats are reasonably comfortable, but do feel quite stiff at first. The soles are also completely smooth, meaning they don't have a lot of grip on smooth surfaces.
